KUCHING – Three primary schools in Sarawak were closed during the first school session today due to the floods following the ongoing heavy rain yesterday.
The three schools that were closed were Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Uma Sambop in Belaga, SK Beliau Ahad and SK Rh Essau in Subis.
The Secretariat of the State Disaster Management Committee (JPBNS) in a statement said the closure of the three schools involved 330 students, 38 teachers and 14 school support staff.
Obviously, 158 pupils from SK Uma Sambop, 117 pupils from SK Beliau Ahad and 55 pupils from SK Rh Essau were affected by the incident.
“All the schools will be reopened for the school session after the situation has recovered as usual,” JPBNS said today.
