KUALA LUMPUR -The special meeting of the Barisan Nasional (BN) Supreme Council is expected to be held at the Putra World Trade Center (PWTC) on Jan 3rd, believed to be in the preparations for the 14th General Election.
Citing the Berita Harian report, the meeting is expected to discuss candidates submitted by each component party based on the ‘win-win’ element and favor the people at the grassroots level.
Another source quoted by Berita Harian said the meeting was also to update the preparations for the GE-14 which is expected to be held in the first quarter of next year, especially strengthening the grassroots’s machinery. The latest developments further reinforced speculation over the GE-14 to be held early next year , with Parliament expected to be dissolved after the Chinese New Year celebration celebrated in mid-February.
It is very rare for BN to hold a special meeting except to discuss the GE-14. All 13 component parties are members of the BN Supreme Council. The special meeting was due on December 12, but had to be postponed to a new date because of the inevitable. The BN leaders of Peninsular Malaysia are expected to settle the claims of overlapping seats during the meeting.
Meanwhile, Sarawak BN leaders are also expected to settle the demands of the overlapping seats between BN component parties and BN-friendly parties.
